Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Lakhimpur Memories
Farewell Night 2024 : JNV Lakhimpur Memories for Class 12 Students
- Preparations and Excitement
A month before our farewell night, excitement in the boys' hostel was at an all-time high. Our rooms became busy centers of activity, filled with lively discussions about the perfect farewell outfit. These talks often went late into the night, making us neglect our studies but strengthening our bonds and building anticipation.
The girls were just as busy with their preparations. They all agreed to wear sarees, spending hours on e-commerce websites looking for the perfect saree and accessories. Some used their own phones, while others borrowed phones from the boys. This teamwork showed the special bond we shared at JNV Lakhimpur.
For us boys, deciding to wear blazers took a lot of thought. Every day, we compared suits on Flipkart and Amazon, discussing styles and prices. Orders were placed and then canceled because of size issues, leading to more frantic online shopping. In the end, we decided to buy our blazers from Bihpuria. Loknath ordered his from Flipkart, and I (Chiranjib) got mine from North Lakhimpur. It was a group effort, with girls even ordering their dresses using boys' Flipkart accounts, making the process memorable.
One funny incident in Nilgiri House we the boys open the girls' parcels out of curiosity. Girls, please forgive us; our farewell is over, and it was all in good fun!
The girls in the hostel were just as enthusiastic. Daily dress trials became a ritual, with each girl trying on her saree and experimenting with different looks. They even brought straighteners from home a week before the farewell, investing in face masks and hair care products. They were so dedicated that they stopped watching TV to focus on their preparations.
Deori Aunty, our beloved tailor, was crucial in this process. She helped the girls adjust their sarees and assisted the boys in fitting their blazers and pants perfectly. The girls confidently assured us that our farewell would be the best ever, thanks to our unity and effort.
- The Day Before: Capturing Memories
The day before the farewell, the boys decided to capture memories. We shot a short video for the farewell intro on the basketball ground. This activity was filled with laughter and nostalgia as we reminisced about our journey together.
The girls' preparations, shrouded in mystery, added to the excitement. We knew they were up to something special, which heightened our anticipation for the event.
- Finally, the big day arrived: February 2nd, our farewell night.
The Farewell Night
As evening approached, the boys in the hostel prepared for their baths while the girls were already dressed and eagerly waiting. The atmosphere was electric with anticipation. We headed to the school farewell venue in pairs. The girls had already made their grand entrance in pairs with music playing in the background. It was now our turn. Our juniors from Class 11 welcomed us with farewell badges, making us feel incredibly special.
Soon, rain started, delaying our farewell.
We took photos during the rain in our classrooms, turning the unexpected weather into a fun memory.
Once the rain stopped, our juniors quickly rearranged the venue and seated us. The program finally began.
Class 11 boys and girls anchored the event with a microphone, starting with a vibrant dance introduction. Our principal, Mr. Apurba Kumar Roy, gave a heartfelt speech, calling our batch the best and expressing his belief that many of us would become officers in the future. His words filled us with pride.

The evening was filled with performances and awards.
Yajusree, our talented classmate and a popular dancer featured on news channels, performed a mesmerizing dance. Her grace and skill left the audience spellbound.

Final Speeches and Farewells
As the evening progressed, our friend Loknath gave a moving speech about our time at JNV Lakhimpur. His words captured the essence of our journey, making many of us emotional. The farewell was not just a celebration but also a reminder of the friendships and experiences we would miss.
The Last Moments
The event concluded around 1 AM, but some teachers stayed late to be with us, despite the late hour. Their presence showed the strong bonds we had with our mentors. Principal sir announced that school timing would be adjusted the following day, giving us a small break after a long night.
After the event, we gathered for a final photo shoot, capturing moments that would become cherished memories. We then headed to the dining hall in groups, feeling a sense of unity.
We dined together, capturing more memories through photos and enjoying the last moments of our school life.
Even after dinner, we were reluctant to say goodbye. The desire to extend the celebration and continue reminiscing was strong. The night marked the end of an era, but also celebrated the beginning of new chapters for all of us.
Reflections and Legacy
Looking back, our farewell night was the culmination of years of shared experiences and growth. It was a testament to the strong bonds we formed, the challenges we overcame, and the joy we experienced together. As we moved on to new phases of our lives, the memories of JNV Lakhimpur and the farewell night would remain a treasured part of our journey.
Reflecting on the event, it becomes clear that the farewell was more than just a formal occasion. It was a celebration of our time together, an acknowledgment of our accomplishments, and a heartfelt goodbye to a chapter that had shaped us in countless ways. The friendships, the experiences, and the memories from that night would continue to influence and inspire us as we moved forward in our lives.
